In April 1975, as a result of the disbandment of the Upland Aquatics, the Claremont Novice teams, a name change of the Montclair Swim Team, and the simultaneous merger of all three teams, the Mt. Baldy Aquatics as we now know it today was formed. Since "Mt. Baldy" is the famous landmark common to all three communities, it was chosen as the name for the new club along with Aquatics to denote the sport. The club serves youth swimmers who live in Claremont, Upland, and the surrounding communities and is governed by USA Swimming, and participates in the Eastern Section of Southern California Swimming. In 1979, the Club incorporated and received its non-profit status. MBA has enjoyed steady increase in is reputation and membership. In the years since then, MBA has proven that it is a competitive Club by consistently finishing close to the larger and longer established swim clubs. There may not have been as many Mt. Baldy swimmers, but they were all placing in their events. MBA is family oriented, encourages parent participation, and emphasizes technique instruction and high quality workouts in a low pressure environment. It offers competitive swimming as well as physical conditioning programs for children that have achieved at least Red Cross level 4 swimming ability.
The coaching staff are still dedicated to the development of the swimmers within their own abilities. We are a competitive Club and encourage swimmers to compete. Our goal is to be a competitive team and afford each swimmer a chance to achieve to the best of his/her ability.
